Ethics Reform is Needed in the SC Senate

South Carolinians deserve accountability and transparency in government. However, District 12’s Senator Lee Bright fought common sense reform by filibustering an ethics bill and voting against it.

Governor Nikki Haley even criticized Bright for voting to allow politicians to investigate themselves as a “slap in the face to every citizen.” Bright also objected to requiring anonymous political groups to reveal the names of donors and was the only legislator to oppose putting an end to a practice that protected career politicians from primary challenges.

How is it that we have a Senator fighting for less transparency and accountability in politics? We must make a change.
